Here’s a list of all the projects that were accomplished during Hope Week 2017. Thank you to all of the amazing volunteers who came out and worked through heat, rain, and bugs!


Sunday, June 11

  • Downtown LaSalle Planters (50 needed)  Completed! 56 people served 149 hours to paint over 50 planters in downtown LaSalle.
    1pm @ HQ, 229 Gooding St, LaSalle
    Cleaning and painting all the planters in downtown LaSalle.

 

Monday, June 12

  • Oglesby Public Library (40 needed)   Completed! Over 3 days, 71 people served 241 hours to clean and repaint the entire interior of the Oglesby library as well as rearrange sections of it. 
    9am @ 111 S Woodland Ave, Oglesby
    Inside, air-conditioned work. Cleaning, rearranging, painting.
  • Hegeler Park (30 needed)  Completed! 50 people served 88 hours to 111 hours to repaint the chain link fence around the tennis courts, repaint all of the picnic tables and a shelter.
    6pm @ St. Vincent Ave, LaSalle
    Painting picnic tables and chainlink fence.
  • Park Signs (10 needed) Completed! 7 people served 23 hours to paint 3 park signs with careful detail to make them look beautiful.
    6pm @ St. Vincent Ave, LaSalle
    Some painting skill required: repainting the LaSalle Park signs.
  • Oakwood Cemetery (10 needed) Completed! 11 people served 23 hours to repaint gates and fences. They also landscaped the entrance sign with new plants.
    6pm @ 2700 E 5th Rd, LaSalle
    Painting markers and fencing, weeding.
  • Sunset Park (5 needed) Completed!  7 people served 21 hours to repaint a shelter.
    6pm @ Second and Henry Streets, Peru
    Painting swings and equipment, shelter.

 

Tuesday, June 13

  • Oglesby Public Library (40 needed) Completed! Over 3 days, 71 people served 241 hours to clean and repaint the entire interior of the Oglesby library as well as rearrange sections of it.

  • Bakers Lake (40 needed) Completed! 56 people served 113 hours to repaint two shelters and a ton of picnic tables. They also stained the dock on the lake.
    6pm @ 2707 Pulaski St, Peru ( West Side of Park)
    Painting picnic tables, shelters.
  • Washington Park (10 needed) Completed! 26 people served 56 hours to repaint two shelters and the picnic tables with them.
    6pm @ 1301 West St, Peru
    Painting picnic tables, shelters.
  • 28th Street Park (5 needed) Completed! 5 people served 18 hours to repaint a shelter.
    6pm @ 745 28th St, Peru
    Painting picnic tables, shelter.
  • Rotary Memorial Park (15 needed) Completed! 18 people served 37 hours to repaint two swing sets, do some weeding a repaint a shelter.
    6pm @ 2001 3rd St, Peru
    Painting swing sets, picnic tables, weeding.

 

Wednesday, June 14

  • Pads Shelter (40 needed) Completed! 38 people served 78 hours to rebuild and organize storage sheds. They also cleaned out the building so a flooring company hired by Hope Week could strip and rewax their floors.
    9am @ 1320 Menards Ave, Peru
    Cleaning, moving furniture, rebuilding outside sheds (tools and carpentry skills appreciated).
  • Peru Cemetery (30 needed) Completed! 30 people served 77 hours to repair and repaint the concrete fence on the south side of the cemetery.
    6pm @ 2300 Shooting Park Road, Peru
    Painting retaining wall.
  • Centennial Park (50 needed) Completed! 37 people served 76 hours to repaint picnic tables.
    6pm @ 1704 13th St, Peru
    Painting picnic tables, shelters, swing sets.
  • American Nickeloid Park (5 needed) Completed! 8 people served 20 hours to repaint a shelter.
    6pm @ 1515 1st St, Peru
    Painting picnic tables, and shelter.
  • I&M Canal Completed! 10 people served 26 hours to hike the I&M canal and pick up trash.

Thursday, June 15

  • Richard A. Mautino Memorial Library (40 neededCompleted! 29 people served 103 hours to clean, repair a staircase, and paint railings around the building.
    9am @ 215 E Cleveland St, Spring Valley
    Both inside air-conditioned work and outside work. Cleaning, re-arranging, painting outdoors, gardening.
  • Savitch Park (20 needed) Completed! 23 people served 43 hours to repaint a slide, swing set, merry go round and other park equipment.
    6pm @ 100 West 2nd St, Spring Valley
    Painting playground equipment.
  • Kirby Park (40 needed) Completed! 38 people served 85 hours to repaint a slide, two swing sets, a merry go round, other park equipment, and the lines on a basketball court.
    6pm @ 204 South Strong St, Spring Valley
    Painting playground equipment.
  • Baltikuski Park (12 needed) Completed! 15 people served 27 hours to repaint a slide, swing set, and merry go round.
    6pm @ 701 Northwestern St, Spring Valley
    Painting playground equipment.
  • Webster Park (8 needed) Completed! 10 people served 18 hours to repaint a piece of equipment and lines on a basketball court. 
    6pm @ 306 Central St, Spring Valley
    Painting playground equipment.

 

Friday, June 16

  • LaSalle Public Library (20 needed) Completed! 25 people served 45 hours to clean, repaint parking lot lines, and paint little libraries.
    9am @ 305 Marquette St, LaSalle
    Some inside, air-conditioned work.  Cleaning inside, outdoor painting.
  • Lehigh Memorial Park (30 needed) Completed! 50 people served 117 hours to paint a huge shelter, two swing sets, a slide and a piece of equipment.
    6pm @ 1190 E Walnut St, Oglesby
    Painting shelter, playground equipment.
  • Oglesby Public Pool (12 needed) Completed! 9 people served 30 hours to paint the chain link fence around the pool.
    6pm @ 55 Pool Dr, Oglesby
    Painting chainlink fence.
  • Route 6 Weeding Completed! 15 people served 35 hours to pull, scrape and spray weeds along Route 6 on the east side of LaSalle.

 

Saturday, June 17

  • Leftovers Completed!
    9am @ HQ, 229 Gooding St, LaSalle
    Checking over all of the projects and trying to finish off anything that isn’t done.
  • Touch Ups Completed!
